Community Walk in Memory of Kory McCrimmon Unites Glasgow Against Knife Crime
On Sunday, June 22, a powerful show of unity took place on the streets of Glasgow as family, friends, and supporters walked in memory of Kory McCrimmon, the 16-year-old tragically killed in a stabbing at Greenfield Park on May 31, 2023.
The walk — which stretched from Ibrox to Celtic Park — was organised by Kory’s loved ones as part of the ‘Parents Against Knives’ campaign, a growing grassroots movement calling for action on knife crime and safer communities for Scotland’s youth.
The peaceful event drew people from across the city, crossing both football and postcode lines, united by one message: enough is enough.
Kory’s brother Jamie McCrimmon addressed the crowd during the walk, describing his brother’s absence as a “senseless burden” the family will carry for the rest of their lives. He said the walk wasn’t just about remembrance, but about creating change — to help prevent other families from going through the same heartbreak.
This local tribute served as both a memorial and a call to action — one step at a time, in memory of Kory, and in hope of a safer future for all.
