Legendary Glasgow Venue Honours Indie Icons

EXCLUSIVE - By Brian Anderson

It was a night to remember as Franz Ferdinand were officially inducted into the Barrowland Hall of Fame, cementing their status among the all-time greats to have graced the iconic Glasgow venue.

The band, who first played the Barrowland Ballroom 21 years ago, have long been associated with electrifying performances, and their induction places them alongside past honourees such as David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and The Libertines.

Stagehand Billy Coyle, a man who has seen it all at the Barras, summed it up best: “It was a long time coming! They’re another legendary band well deserving of the award.”

Franz Ferdinand’s connection to the venue is no secret. Many artists have called Barrowland the best music venue in the world, and for the Glasgow-born band, it holds an extra special place in their hearts.

The induction was met with huge support from fans, many of whom have unforgettable memories of sweaty, euphoric nights watching the indie icons tear up the legendary stage.

As the Hall of Fame continues to grow, Barrowland’s legacy as Scotland’s most beloved music venue remains as strong as ever. And with Franz Ferdinand now officially part of its history, it’s safe to say the Barras will keep on rocking for generations to come.
