From Naples to the World: Mimmo Scores Big on Discovery’s Adam Richman Eats Football
EXCLUSIVE STORY BY BRIAN ANDERSON
Mimmo Rossi, a charismatic Italian chef, has been a cornerstone of Glasgow's dining scene since he first set foot in the city in 1990. Hailing from Naples, the birthplace of pizza, Mimmo brought with him not just his passion for food but a mission: to show Glaswegians what true Italian cuisine is all about.
Over the years, Mimmo has built a legacy, opening and running several successful restaurants in and around Glasgow. But there’s one place that stands out among the rest—Mimmo's, Glasgow’s best Italian restaurant, where locals and visitors alike flock for authentic Neapolitan dishes. His signature pizzas, creamy risottos, and mouthwatering pastas are celebrated for their perfect balance of tradition and creativity.
This December, Mimmo's talents will shine on the world stage, thanks to the Discovery Channel’s new food show, Adam Richman Eats Football. Global food explorer Adam Richman, famous for his adventures on Man v. Food, has returned to Britain with a unique mission: to eat his way around the homes of the world’s most famous football teams.
When Richman visited Glasgow, he couldn’t miss the opportunity to explore the vibrant food scene surrounding one of Britain’s most passionate football cities. Mimmo’s restaurant was the clear choice. "Football and food are part of the soul of Naples," Mimmo explained to Richman during filming. "And Glasgow shares that same passion—people here live for their team and love to eat well!"
On the show, Richman learns how Mimmo creates his award-winning dishes, from kneading dough the traditional Neapolitan way to using imported Italian tomatoes and fresh, local Scottish ingredients. He even tries his hand at making Mimmo’s famous pizza margherita, though he admits that matching the chef’s finesse is no easy feat.
But the real highlight is when Mimmo unveils a dish inspired by Glasgow’s football culture: a smoky, spicy pasta featuring local ingredients in tribute to the city’s fiery rivalries and warm-hearted people. "Food brings everyone together, even if they’re wearing different colors on match day," Mimmo says with a smile.
Mimmo’s feature on Adam Richman Eats Football is not just a testament to his culinary skills but also to the cultural bridge he’s built between Naples and Glasgow. For Mimmo, it’s not just about serving great food; it’s about sharing his heritage and passion with everyone who walks through his doors.
Mimmo has also named a pizza on honour of new Scots Napoli players Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour..
Catch Mimmo and his culinary magic this December on Adam Richman Eats Football—and prepare to see how Italian food and Glasgow football make the perfect match.
