A murder investigation is underway after a man was found dead in a property on Monar Street, Glasgow.

Police were called to the scene around 9.20am on Wednesday, March 5, where they discovered the body of 55-year-old James Jarvis. His family has been informed and has requested privacy.

Detectives from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team are working to establish Mr. Jarvis’s movements before his death and have appealed for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the area.

As part of the investigation, officers are also carrying out enquiries on Auckland Street, where Mr. Jarvis’s black VW Golf was found abandoned at around 7.20am the same morning.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie said:

“Our thoughts are with Mr. Jarvis’s family at this very difficult time. It is vital that we find answers for them and trace whoever is responsible as soon as possible.”

Police are urging anyone who may have private CCTV, dash-cam footage, or information relating to Monar Street, Auckland Street, or the surrounding areas to come forward.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw Mr. Jarvis’s car and how it got to Auckland Street,” DCI McCreadie added. “Even the smallest piece of information could be crucial in helping us solve this case.”
