A senior police officer has been suspended following his arrest in connection with a disturbance in North Lanarkshire. Chief Superintendent Pat Campbell was taken into custody after an incident at a property in Airdrie during the early hours of Sunday, April 20. He has since been released on an undertaking to appear at the town's sheriff court at a later date. Campbell, who previously headed the force's organised crime and counter-terrorism unit, played a notable role in the investigation into the death of Sheku Bayoh in 2015. Police Scotland confirmed that officers responded to reports of the disturbance around 1:35 AM, and a report outlining the details has been prepared for prosecutors and is currently under consideration.
